Why do all this?
As you look through the schedule, bump into people with jumpers handing out leaflets, witness students taking time away from their degree to put on this event, and walk into a big tent all about Jesus, you may think to yourself – why?

We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and really is Good News – the greatest news in the world, in fact!
The Bible claims to hold the answer to life itself – and if it is true, then there is nothing on this earth that is more important.
The essence of the Good News can be summarised in this:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
– John 3:16 (NIV)
Humanity, through our rebellion against God (sin), rightfully earned the due punishment of death (Romans 6:23) – a consequence of God’s justness and wrath. However, out of His love for humanity, God humbled himself to a man (Philippians 2:6-8) and paid the price that humanity deserved – death – himself, in full, through His death on the cross (1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5). But not only this, through His resurrection, we are also resurrected with Him into a new life (Romans 6:3-5)!
This is what Christians call the Gospel – and Gospel literally means “Good News”!
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.“
– Ephesians 2:1-10 (ESV)
The Gospel message is one like no other and stands distinct against any other religion. We believe in a God who, rather than requiring us to work hard to reach his standards, loves us and has proven it by coming down to earth to suffer for our sake.
We truly believe exploring those claims for yourself is the most important thing you can do. The claims made are great, but the evidence for it are much greater than you may suspect.
